Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar was attacked with an unknown substance at a town hall she hosted on Tuesday, when an audience member used a syringe to spray liquid at her, Minneapolis police reported. Omar was unharmed and continued her speech as the man was swiftly arrested, with police conducting forensics at the scene.

I thought it was one of her aides going up to hand her a note or something, remarked attendee Jacquelynn Goessling, who noted the acrid smell of the liquid. In a statement on social media, Omar assured her followers, saying, I'm ok. I'm a survivor so this small agitator isn't going to intimidate me from doing my work. I don't let bullies win. The incident occurred amid discussions on federal immigration policies, which have sparked protests following recent fatal shootings involving immigration officials.

Omar, who has faced vocal opposition, was adamant about continuing the town hall, urging the crowd, We're gonna keep talking. Just give me ten minutes. Please don't let them have the show. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey condemned the attack, asserting that violence and intimidation have no place in the city.

The town hall, attended by about 100 people, was focused on urgent community issues, particularly immigration enforcement. Omar has called for significant changes, including the abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Despite the challenges, she remains committed to engaging with her constituents on serious local concerns.
