Smoke over Tyre following Israeli strike

Israel Air Strikes Tyre Despite Iran’s Warning to Stop Attacks

Israel has carried out air strikes across southern Lebanon, even after Iran cautioned the country to halt further attacks in the region. The Lebanese health ministry confirmed eight deaths in Tyre and urged residents to leave the city.

The military issued a new evacuation order for Tyre, including the Christian quarter—a first in Israeli operations—claiming Hezbollah fighters were operating there. Evacuees faced heavy traffic on roads north of the city.

Casualties reported: 8 killed, 32 injured in Tyre; 5 injured in al‑Raml area; 2 killed, 13 injured across southern Lebanon on the following day.

Israel’s strikes were justified by the military as a response to Hezbollah’s violations of a ceasefire and attacks on northern Israel. A separate incident in the Galilee region saw Israeli troops neutralise a cross‑border raider.

Hezbollah fired rockets and drones at Israeli positions, prompting Israeli retaliation with air attacks on Iranian targets. Iran launched ballistic missiles toward Israeli airbases and the Haifa refinery, which the Israeli military claims were intercepted.

Despite a 16 April ceasefire, the conflict persists. U.S. President has urged Israel to scale back attacks to allow negotiations that include Lebanon, but Israel insists its campaign against Hezbollah will continue.

The latest tensions highlight the precarious balance of regional power, with both sides claiming victory while civilians bear the brunt.
