Mel Schilling, the beloved dating coach from the reality show Married at First Sight, has sadly passed away at the age of 54. Her husband shared the news on Instagram two weeks after revealing that her cancer had spread to her brain.
Schilling, who joined the show in 2016, was initially diagnosed with colon cancer in December 2023. In a moving tribute, her husband Gareth wrote that she 'passed away peacefully today, surrounded by love.'
He described Mel as the 'matriarch of MAFS and queen of reality TV' and emphasized her role as an incredible mother and soulmate. Gareth recounted how she used her final moments to share a heartfelt message for their daughter Maddie, showcasing her enduring love and strength.
Through two years of challenging treatments, Schilling remained dedicated to her work, showing resilience and compassion without a single complaint. Her husband encouraged others to live life fully and cherish their loved ones, highlighting Mel's spirit and legacy.
