Authorities are on high alert for more rainfall due to cyclonic activity over the Andaman Sea. Tragically, three people, including a young boy, lost their lives in rain-related incidents on Monday.
With many residents stranded, tech giants in the region have advised employees to work from home amid reports of flooded roads. Videos show people navigating knee-deep water and cars stranded along waterlogged streets, while water has infiltrated homes in some neighborhoods.
Officials reported significant property damage—most notably the collapse of a compound wall at a software firm that resulted in a fatality. Authorities are hard at work addressing over 210 areas prone to flooding, assuring residents that there is no cause for alarm.
As the state government faces mounting criticism from political opposition regarding its management of rain-related challenges, they defend themselves against accusations, stating these infrastructural issues are long-standing and have been overlooked for years.
