The Eurostar high-speed train network is in turmoil as passengers face a barrage of delays and cancellations for a second straight day. This chaos comes after a tragic incident on the LGV Nord line between Lille and Paris, where two individuals lost their lives on the railway. The line was closed for a significant portion of Tuesday, and the aftermath is still being felt today.

To make matters worse, thieves have stolen around 600 metres of copper cables from the same railway line near Lille, forcing trains to be rerouted and extending travel times further. This disruption has led Eurostar to advise travelers to rethink their travel plans for Wednesday, with numerous service cancellations affecting routes to and from London, Paris, Brussels, and Amsterdam.

In an effort to assist, Eurostar is allowing impacted passengers to change their travel plans without penalties or request full refunds. The situation remains fluid as Eurostar works with French authorities to restore service. A partial reopening of one track has allowed some trains to operate in both directions, with full repairs anticipated by around 16:00 BST.

Meanwhile, passengers on delayed services are being provided with water, and train stations are buzzing with frustrated travelers. Eurostar expressed their regret over the disruptions and emphasized their commitment to ensuring the safety and convenience of their customers.
