In a bold move, Ukrainian boxing heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk has invited former U.S. President Donald Trump to spend a week at his home in Ukraine to grasp the harsh realities of the ongoing war. This invitation comes in light of Trump’s previous claims that he could end the conflict "within 24 hours" if re-elected. While Trump blames Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for the war, Usyk wants him to witness the nightly bombings and turmoil firsthand.

“Come to Ukraine and live in my house for one week,” Usyk told BBC Sport. He painted a vivid picture of the ongoing crisis, with bombs and helicopters rattling outside his window almost every night. Urging for a better understanding of the human toll, Usyk lamented, “Ukrainian people are dying... it's hard for me.”

A symbol of resilience, Usyk has been advocating for peace since the war broke out. As he prepares for an important match against Daniel Dubois on July 19, he carries the weight of his country’s plight on his shoulders and hopes for a world where empathy and peace prevail.
