Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said a peace agreement to end the war with Russia is '90% ready,' in a New Year address that largely focused on resistance to Moscow's full-scale invasion.

Zelensky explained that the remaining 10% of the agreement will determine 'the fate of peace, the fate of Ukraine and Europe.'

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin, in his own New Year speech, expressed confidence in his forces, stating, 'we believe in you and our victory.'

Earlier, Moscow alleged that Ukraine used drones to target Putin's private home, a claim that Kyiv has strongly denied. Russia's Defense Ministry provided what it claims is evidence, including a map showing drone launch sites in Ukraine.

Zelensky stressed that Ukraine seeks peace, but not at any cost, indicating that a withdrawal from contested areas would have severe implications.

The Ukrainian leader called for strong security guarantees from international allies, and discussions involving U.S. and European officials are on the table following recent talks in Florida.

Although tensions are high, Macron has promised commitments during upcoming EU meetings that aim to secure a lasting peace for Ukraine.
