Verified videos emerging from Iran show bodies piled up in a hospital, snipers stationed on buildings, and CCTV cameras being destroyed following the unprecedented crackdown on protests earlier this month.

BBC Verify has been tracking the spread of protests across Iran since they first erupted in late December, but the near-total internet blackout imposed by the authorities has made it extremely difficult to document the scale of the state's deadly crackdown on protesters.

The US-based Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) states that it has confirmed the deaths of nearly 6,000 individuals, including 5,633 protesters, since unrest began. The total toll could exceed 25,000, according to the Norway-based Iran Human Rights (IHR).

Recent videos from January 8 and 9 coincide with mass protests initiated by Reza Pahlavi, the exiled son of the late Shah. These nights are believed to have been among the deadliest for demonstrators.

Clips analyzed by BBC Verify reveal bodies in a Tehran hospital and protesters demonstrating on crowded streets before gunfire erupts. Additionally, individuals are seen attempting to disable surveillance systems to evade state control.

Reports indicate that protesters are active across at least 71 cities, with armed men in military gear observed using their firearms during demonstrations. Despite the challenges imposed by the blackout, several activists have managed to connect through satellite internet and VPNs.

Watch this development closely as further footage is expected to surface amid Iran's struggles from the ongoing blackout.
