BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — In a shocking incident at the Mall of Louisiana, gunfire erupted Thursday afternoon as two groups exchanged shots in the food court, leaving at least 10 people injured. Police reported that some individuals fled the scene as law enforcement arrived, and no arrests have been made yet. Mayor Sid Edwards condemned the violence, stating, “To the thugs that did this, we’re going to catch you.” Police Chief TJ Morse confirmed that arguments between the two groups sparked the shooting and that some innocent bystanders were also caught in the crossfire. The wounded, including some requiring surgery, were rapidly transported to local hospitals. Morse urged anyone with video evidence to help in the investigation. While Governor Jeff Landry is aware of the situation, he advised the public to steer clear of the area. This incident marks the second case of gun violence in Louisiana this week, following a tragic family shooting in Shreveport.
