The US launched additional air raids on Iran, killing a person in southwestern Iran while Iran vows retaliation.

U.S. forces carried out a fresh round of strikes against Iranian targets, reportedly killing one person in Khuzestan province and injuring four others. In response, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard hit U.S. bases across the Gulf, escalating tensions over the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. Oil prices rose as markets reacted to the conflict, but still lag behind April levels. The latest clashes threaten to undermine the ceasefire agreement signed earlier this year.

US Fires New Strikes on Iran, One Killed in Southern Iran

The US launched a new series of attacks on Iranian military sites, killing one person and injuring four in Khuzestan province, Iranian state media reported. Centcom said the strikes began at 17:00 ET and hit dozens of Iranian air‑defence, radar and missile spots.

Just hours later Iran’s Revolutionary Guard retaliated by striking US bases in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain, raising concerns over a broader regional flare‑up and the future of the interim ceasefire agreement signed in June.

The Strait of Hormuz, through which about 20% of world oil passes, remains contested: Iran claims it has closed the waterway, while the US insists it is open. Oil prices surged in Asian markets, with Brent crude up 4% to $79.07 and US‑traded oil at $74.53.

These latest actions threaten to unravel the ceasefire established earlier this year, with both sides accusing each other of violating the deal and calling for urgent diplomatic talks.
