Iran has rejected US President Donald Trump's 15-point plan to end the war, according to state-run Press TV. It cited an unknown 'senior political-security official' who laid out five of Tehran's own conditions to bring the conflict to an end, including paying reparations for damage.

These conditions bear no resemblance to Trump's proposals, which were published by Israel's Channel 12 after US officials confirmed their existence. Trump's plan includes demands for Iran to commit to not building nuclear weapons and to reopen the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.

The war began on February 28 with US and Israeli air strikes, prompting Iran to target American allies in the Gulf.

On Tuesday, Trump suggested Iran was 'desperate' for talks, claiming that Iranian negotiators had conceded a 'very significant prize' related to oil and gas in the region. However, Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf dismissed any suggestion of negotiations, alleging that 'fake news' was being used to manipulate markets.

Trump's 15-point plan demands include major limitations on Iran's nuclear and missile capabilities and the cessation of support for regional proxies. Conversely, Iran's proposals require a complete halt to aggression, payment for war damages, and the assurance that the war will not be imposed again.

With Trump’s peace envoys potentially leading any talks, uncertainty looms large as escalation continues, particularly regarding the involvement of thousands of US troops reportedly heading to Iran.
