What the report says: The UN commission alleges that Israeli forces have deliberately killed Palestinian children, using drones, snipers and heavy bombs on homes and schools. It argues this is part of a “strategy to destroy the future of Palestinians in Gaza.” The report also cites attacks on hospitals and the use of starvation as a war tactic.

Israeli officials have blasted the report as a “libellous sham,” insisting the war is a defence against Hamas and that they are following international law. They also accuse Hamas of hostage‑tactics and of using children as shields.

The findings came after a ceasefire in September that both sides claim has been broken. Since ending the ceasefire, more than 21,000 children are reported killed in Gaza by the Hamas‑run health ministry.

The UN’s Independent International Commission of Inquiry is still investigating the war. Meanwhile, the International Court of Justice is hearing a case that could confirm genocide accusations, though the outcome may take years.
